The Story Behind the Song
This song comes from an honest place. Sometimes people think Christians are supposed to have it all together, never mess up, and never fall short. But the truth is, I make mistakes. I still have moments where I have to ask for forgiveness, sometimes more often than I wish.
But I also know this: the Lord still loves me, and I am nowhere near the man I used to be. I still have a long road ahead, but God keeps working on me. I am learning. I am growing. I am being shaped by His mercy.
Not the Man I Was is a reminder that we are not saved because we are perfect. We are saved because Jesus is good.
