Fifty-seven candles, better make some room
Gary's got enough light to brighten up the room
Another trip around, but this one's been a year
Full of grace, new beginnings, and a whole lot to cheer

He stepped into a calling, now they call him Elder Gary
Serving God and serving people, never ordinary
With an open heart, a smile, and a hand to lend
He's the kind of man who makes a stranger feel like a friend

Every road behind him
Every step ahead
Points to all the ways that God has faithfully led

Walking with the Lord a little closer every day

More than five years walking down a brand-new road
Breaking old chains and laying down the load

He fought to get his freedom, got back up on his feet
