The Story Behind the Song

This song was born out of something I have seen up close in church life. So many men will gladly make time for things they enjoy, whether that is sports, travel, entertainment, or anything else that feels exciting in the moment, yet struggle to make time for growing in the Lord, building Christian friendships, or showing up consistently for discipleship and fellowship. As someone involved in ministry and social media at church, I have seen the contrast. People can carve out hours for a basketball game across town, but often will not take even a small amount of time to invest in spiritual growth, the Word of God, or relationships with other brothers in Christ. This song is not meant to shame people. It is meant to ask an honest question: what really comes first in our lives? “What Gets Your Time?” is a call to examine our priorities and return to what matters most. Time is one of the clearest ways we show what we value. My hope is that this song encourages men to stop leaving God whatever time is left over and instead put Him first, where He belongs.
