The Story Behind the Song

Built to Stand was created for Crosswind Church’s Men of Valor ministry during our journey through The Titus Ten: Foundations for Godly Manhood by J. Josh Smith. The heart behind the song is simple: godly men are not formed in isolation. They are shaped through truth, grace, brotherhood, Scripture, accountability, and a willingness to follow Christ faithfully. As we study what biblical manhood looks like, we are reminded that strength is not about pride, image, or having all the answers. It is about standing firm in God’s Word, leading with humility, serving others, walking in integrity, and allowing Christ to shape every part of our lives. The imagery of being built “brick by brick” and “truth by truth” reflects the foundation theme of The Titus Ten. Every gathering, every conversation, every lesson, and every step of obedience is part of God’s work of building faithful men. This song is also about brotherhood. Men were never meant to fight every battle alone. We need other men beside us who will encourage us, challenge us, pray with us, and remind us where our foundation truly stands. Built to Stand is our anthem for that journey. Not standing in our own strength. Not standing for our own glory. Standing together, by grace, on the truth of Jesus Christ.
